It's not going to Rain!

Well it seems very determined not to rain!!!  I should not complain, compared to the fear of more rain from our eastern state friends, who are getting flooded.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

The skies are grey and over-cast and the wood fire is on.....but still the heavens will not open up and let some rain pour down.  If it does not rain soon, that is within the next few days, we are going to have to bring in water again!!  It certainly drains the poor old bank account and unfortunately due to no rain last summer for so long and then total down-pours over the winter, the damns are so muddied up that pumping water from them to the rain water tanks would blow the filters out in less than an hour.   I Should not complain, it could be far worse; like too much rain till it floods or non that is a drought.

I really should be working on an assignment that is due in next week, but it is Saturday and I am feeling super lazy.  One daughter is at work, number two daughter is reading her Kindle, (which she could do all day) and the husband is at the Uni Library, so whoohoo for me!!!  Now is that not selfish, Lord I think I am in quite a selfish mood or maybe I am just being a whinger today.   My excuse.....to menopausal to care!!!  No not really.

Still furiously trying to get items up on Mammy's website, wish you could just cross your arms like Jeanie, nod your head and blink your eyes....better still, wish I had Jeanie's figure and looks that would be a sensational wish LOL!!  See, told you I was in a whinge mood.

Autumn is half way over and I still have some handmade pumpkins to get up on the site.  It is a lovely time of the year and I love all those autumn colours.  It also starts you getting in preparation for the winter.  Ordering in wood; re-planting the veggie garden; putting away summer tables and chairs in the garden; cleaning out the gutters; getting out the horse blankets; looking up new winter recipes for the family; changing the bed quilts; putting the summer clothes away and pulling out our winter warmers.

On that note, I had better get back to some work.  I doubt very much daugther number two has put another log on the fire, bless her.  Seriously, Victoria is a beautiful girl and we love her dearly, she has such a lovely nature and disposition...alas however....we call her our ornamental child....she is quite good at that job LOL!!!

Till next time......xxx

Oh and on the thought of Autumn, one of my favourite poems by John Keats - published 1820.

To Autumn
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun,
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatched eaves run
To bend with apples the mossed cottage trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel-shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For summer has o'erbrimmed their clammy cells.

Jealous Jackie. Though, not sure what is worse....too much rain or not enough, both are quite devastating. It is quite overcast today, but it does not look promising. Lets hope for both us, yours dries up a little and we get a lot. Oh the joys of country living....though I would not move for the world. x

Hello Vickie,

Just love the description of your daughter!!! We cleaned out the fire today, not cold enough to light it yet. We had a cool night the other day but it is back up to the high 20's later on in the week. Cleaned gutters too, waiting for that rain....

Happy days.

Hi Bev,
Shame, glad she cannot see it. No, nothing we do not say to her. She is a beautiful natured girl; am blessed to have her for a daughter.
They tell us rain Wednesday; I hope so. Victoria has four of her friends over doing some filming for an English project they have and needed our furniture to fit in with their 1920's theme, plus the outside of the house. Nice girls, but could not be worse timing!! All I can think of is all those toilet flushes and I dare not mention for Victoria's sake that at the moment no flushing during the night or can they use the buckets with the shower water during the day...ho hum!!! xx
